“We offer our sincere apologies to those who felt offended,” the Semba Comunicacao company said in a statement via the Angop government press agency.
The apology follows airing of an episode of the popular ‘Jikulumessu’ drama series aired late last month which showed two men kissing.
In the statement, the production company promised to make “corrections in the presentations of sensitive content”.
Angola is a conservative nation with strong Catholic sensibilities. Homosexuality remains a taboo subject in the country.
The show’s creator and Semba Comunicacao head Jose Paulino dos Santos, known by his stage name Coreon Du, condemned the move on his Facebook page, saying it’s a form of censorship.
