In a storytelling collaboration with African Crossroads, This Is Africa explores what relationships Africans have with their environment zooming in on efforts to better the interconnection and interaction between humans and nature. Inspecting through a climate lens, the series juxtaposes everyday life and eco-friendly rituals on the continent that have seen the survival of our species, lands and oceans as we know them over centuries. Our coverage will delve into the Climate action scene, highlighting injustices on the larger African continent, local communities and individuals in urban, semi-urban, and rural settings across Africa. The collection of feature stories, essays, cartoons and illustrations brings together different experiences, initiatives and perspectives on human-nature coexistence as we strive for Climate Justice for all.

DR Congo surgeon Denis Mukwege wins 2018 Nobel Peace Prize

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Dr. Denis Mukwege has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2018. Dr Mukwege was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize with Nadia Murad, a Yazidi-Kurdish human rights activist for “their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict”.

Zimbabwe’s Con Court unanimously declares Mnangagwa Presidential Election Winner

Zimbabwe’s Constitutional Court has unanimously declared Emerson Mnangagwa’s victory in the presidential election last month valid, effectively declaring the incumbent the winner. The ruling is final and paves way for Mnangagwa to be sworn in as president within 48 hours following the ruling.
