Firebrand leader of South African opposition party the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Julius Malema has completed a BA Honours degree in Philosophy from the College of Human Sciences from the University of South Africa (Unisa).

In a public statement the EFF congratulated Malema saying, “We are proud of this achievement as it impresses upon all to value education. With all the pressures of serving our people in the EFF, Parliament and Africa, the CIC Julius Malema still made time to improve his education. We say this with the full knowledge that fees remain the biggest stumbling block for many to access education. To that end, the qualifications of the CIC must be proof that those who demand the end to fees in universities do so because they are indeed academically deserving.”

Malema has been the butt of many jokes especially due to his alleged poor performance in maths and woodwork in his Matric year (Secondary School), but today he is proving his critics wrong as he inspires the youth all across the continent.

And the jokes have been brutal. One of the most popular being “100% for Zuma, 20% for woodwork”.

Julius himself didn’t help his unappealing educational reputation when he was quoted saying, “I’m happy to hear that 78.2% of the matrics passed on.”

Malema has however entirely reinvented himself with a different title in a different party and now holds the education to shut down the critics and back up his often bizarre rhetoric.

People cannot help but be happy for Malema. He has shown that you can rise from any situation and transform yourself into anything as long as you set your mind to it.

The Vice Chancellor of Unisa, Professor Mandla Makhanya, also joined the fray by sending his congratulatory message across to the EFF leader and UNISA’s entire graduates for the achievement. “The University congratulates our entire graduate including Mr. Julius Sello Malema for being able to complete all his studies under such difficult environment as a leader of a political party. We wish him the best and hope he will continue with his educations by doing so to encourage young people to take education seriously in order to uplift their lives,” Prof Mandla said.

Social media has been buzzing with congratulatory messages from the public, friends party leaders and supporters applauding Malema on his remarkable achievement.
