Following tense elimination rounds and a grilling boot camp, South African Carissa Cupido was named the winner of the presenter search. The announcement was made this week at the Blue Studios in South Africa.
“I’m excited and terrified all at the same time! What an honour to be representing South Africa on such a dynamic international platform. Boot camp taught me the true meaning of self-belief and I will forever be thankful to TLC for this opportunity.”
Hot on her heals were Zimbabwe’s Karen Paida Mukwedeya and Charlie Karumi from Kenya. Carissa won by securing majority of the votes from a combined total of 200,000 votes.
Carissa was among hundreds of eager participants who submitted a 90 minute video showcasing their talents. Last year’s winner was Namibia’s David Mbeha. The competition not only has a happy ending for the winner, it also gives undiscovered youths from across Africa a chance to be picked up by those in the entertainment industry.
According to TLC Africa, Carissa will be heading to present TLC’s MOST EXTREME, a new four-part series coming to TLC Entertainment (DStv channel 135) in early 2017. This new series will be showcasing some of TLC’s achieved funny, exciting and thrilling moments.
