Zakouma National Park in Chad is home to some of the continent’s endangered animals. Situated just south of the Sahara Desert and above the fertile rainforest regions, Zakouma has become a safe haven for Central and West African wildlife.

In an effort to stop poaching and the illegal trade of ivory, Kenya officiated a ceremonial burning of about 105 tonnes of elephant ivory and approximately 1.35 tonnes of rhino horn. The event was held at Nairobi National Park, on the 30th of April, 2016.
