Greetings From The Fulani people in West Africa

Greetings as we visit the Fulani people (also called Peul or Fulbe) from West Africa, the largest nomadic group in the world. The ethnic group is diverse, with people who were conquered and became a part of the Fulani through the spread of Islam. The Fulani people are scattered from Lake Chad in the east to the Atlantic coast. You will find them mainly in Nigeria, Mali, Guinea, Cameroon, Senegal, and Niger. Their language, Fula, belongs to the Niger-Congo language family.

Greetings from Mapungubwe National Park

Today we are at the northern border of South Africa, joining Zimbabwe and Botswana- in Mapubungwe. The area is reportedly Southern Africa’s first kinggom, established at Mapungubwe Hill between 1200 and 1290 AD. According to South African National Parks, the park which is in this World Heritage Site is the ideal location for anyone interested in wildlife and birds and for those in search of serenity. Mapungubwe means “place of Jackals,” or “place where Jackals eat”. We showcase some of the pictures from this beautiful site.

The Loropeni Ruins in Burkina Faso

Greetings from the ruins of Loropeni which include an array of stone walls that comprise an ancient fortress, the best preserved of ten in the area. Situated near the borders of Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo, the ruins are believed to date back to a thousand years. Today we share with you some lovely images of these ruins.
