Who is Kwame Nkrumah
Dr Kwame Nkrumah was one of Africa’s most influential figures who led the Gold Coast’s drive for independence from Britain and presided over its emergence as the new nation of Ghana. He was the country’s prime minister and later became a president after independence in 1957 until he was overthrown by a coup in 1966.

Nkrumah is popularly known for his struggle to create and maintain a Union of African Socialist Republics. He also worked tirelessly to unite African nationalist leaders for a collective struggle against colonialism.
