Survivor groups of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide held a protest over the weekend against the BBC over the airing of a documentary which was accused of taking a “revisionist” approach to the genocide.
The protesters had earlier written a letter to the BBC’s Director General complaining that the documentary, Rwanda: The Untold Story, politicised the 1994 Genocide.
Their letter of complaint goes on to criticise the international broadcaster of having “made no effort to seek out the voices of those who witnessed and suffered through the Genocide in 1994”.
A BBC spokesperson however had this to say: “The BBC strongly refutes the suggestion that any part of the programme constitutes a ‘denial of the genocide against the Tutsi”.
