Namibia: Windhoek Fashion Week returns for a third edition
Started in 2016, the Windhoek Fashion Week has gradually grown to become a major event in Southern Africa. The 2018 event is set to be even bigger, running from 6 to 10 November.
The Windhoek Fashion Week is certainly one of the biggest fashion events in southern Africa. In November 2016, Namibian designers first showcased their talent on the runway in the inaugural fashion week. In 2018, Windhoek Fashion Week (WFW) has grown much bigger with a record number of 450 models who came through to cast for the fashion week. This is double the number of models who came to cast in 2017 for the second annual event.
According to a press release by the organisers, since the announcement of the WFW 2018, massive interest from both local and international designers, models, media and industry professionals has been shown. The Windhoek Fashion Week is set to take place from the 6th to the 10th November in the capital city of Namibia, Windhoek.
The designers of WFW Autumn/Winter 2018 will be announced at the end of September. Currently, the designer selection process is underway with applications of forms and sketches under consideration by the WFW Team, Fashion Council and SA members. The fashion week will also serve as a platform for accessories designers to showcase their accessories.

Last year, designers from Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa showcased their work. Windhoek Fashion Week has thrown its door open to everyone in Namibia; models, designers or industry professionals to participate in the hope that networking, skills transfer and collaborations will be made.
