Pre-teen Marquis Govan addressed issues affecting Ferguson’s black community in a county council meeting on August 19. He cited unemployment as a major issue that needs to be addressed, and which became more evident during the Mike Brown protests.
Govan said to the St.Louis County Council: “The real issues aren’t being solved…you’re paying attention to the looting and things like that, when the real issues are not being solved. There’s a reason why those people are out there.”
