Sociable weaver bird nests colonise telephone poles: Kalahari

In the southern part of Kalahari is where the spectacular nest images were captured. The Sociable weaver bird is responsible for the telephone pole colonisation.

The Sociable weaver bird combines twigs and grass to make these large amazing nests. The small brown bird is common in Africa’s Kalahari region in places such as Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. The little bird’s scientific name is Philetairus socius.
