World’s Richest Black Woman, Folorunsho Alakija Spends $6.4 Million on son’s wedding
How does the richest black woman in the world throw a wedding? Folorunsho Alakija’s son, Folarin Alakija wedded his girlfriend Nazanin Jafarian, an Iranian that’s lived in the U.K. for the past 10 years, and it was a wedding of pure class, and a display of opulence. The wedding, held at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. The flowers were arranged by celebrity florist Jeff Leatham, and Robin Thicke performed but that’s not all.

When you are the son of the world’s richest black woman, it’s not surprising for your wedding to hit six figures, especially if she’s a Nigerian mother. Folarin Alakija, the son of Folorunsho Alakija got married to his supermodel Iranian wife, Nazanin Jafarian Ghaissarifar in Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire in the U.K.
The wedding, which took place at the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill was a display of opulence. Blenheim Palace was decorated with a million white roses, a 12ft (3.6m) cake, and guests that in their own rights are stars. The 12-foot cake was made by Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium and is estimated to have cost $13,000. White roses were adorned on the cake too.

The flowers were arranged by celebrity florist Jeff Leatham who in his instagram post said, “Wedding White – Such a dream to work with such a beautiful Soul – Thank you Mrs – for trusting #TeamLeatham – with your fairy tail day – we love you – we created heaven on earth for you and your new Hubby.” The walls crawled with flowers and different type of floral installations were put in place.

Leatham who’s worked for celebrities such as the Kardashians, Madonna, Oprah and Tina Turner is said to be the man behind the flowers at Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s wedding. Leatham came with a staff of over 30 for Mr. Alakija’s wedding ceremony. Leatham who is also the artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris is said to charge as much as $318,600 (£250,000).
This is just a tip of the iceberg. The venue of the wedding, Blenheim Palace is believed to have been exclusively hired at a cost of $190,000 (£150,000). The wedding was one of sheer exquisiteness and class. A week before the wedding, preparations were made to etch a bespoke marble floor with the couple’s initials in gold with an approximate cost of $254,000 (£200,000).

According to the venue’s website, the cost of hiring the whole venue is on application but hiring just the palace and state rooms costs £33,000. According to The Daily Mail, Searcys are the approved caterer for the Orangery at Blenheim palace and three course meals start at £52 per head – excluding alcohol – but it’s believed they had a much more expensive bespoke package with catering company, rhubarb.
Mr. Alakija who’s in his thirties lost his first wife Chena six years ago to cancer. A graduate of Geography from the Imperial College in London, he is an entrepreneur and cinematographer. His wife Nazanin, who’s a model studied Bioengineering and Biomedical engineering at the University of Manchester, and has a graduate Diploma in Law. The couple had a traditional wedding last year November in Nigeria.
The glamorous day was not complete without a performance by Robin Thicke who was specially flown in and was hosted at approximately $190,000 (£150,000) and fireworks later displayed in the evening.
The presence of supermodel Shanina Shaik and vlogger Temi Otedola was not missed. This wedding will go down in history as one of the most expensive ever held.
