Nyathi was stoned to death and set ablaze in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, by a vigilante group targeting “illegal” immigrants.

The United Nations in South Africa says it’s concerned about the ongoing attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa.

Acting resident coordinator and head of the United Nations (UN) in South Africa, Ayodele Odusola, said “It is deeply worrisome and unfortunate that this is happening in a country with one of the most inclusive constitutions globally.”

The horrific murder of Elvis Nyathi has sparked fears of another wave of Afrophobia attacks.
