Hundreds of demonstrators gathered San Francisco’s at financial district to create awareness on the killing of unarmed black women by US police in recent years.

According to BuzzFeed, the protest was part of a nationwide movement demonstrating under the hashtag #SayHerName. This protest, however, set itself apart when a number of activists went topless.

The demonstration formed part of a national day of mobilisation which follows the publication of the Say Her Name: Resisting Police Brutality Against Black Women report by the African American Policy Forum.

Onlookers and other protesters captured images which were posted on Twitter.
