Tanzania’s JKHI in Muhimbili National Hospital has recorded its first bypass heart operation, a major feat, which is being celebrated on social media.

The news comes after Nigeria’s Lagos State University Teaching Hospital’s recent announcement that it successfully completed its first ever kidney transplant. The institution also recently carried out the first successful Bone Bridge Surgery in West Africa, and performed Cochlear Implant surgeries on three deaf patients without the support of foreign doctors.
