Zambia’s ruling political party has suspended the country’s president. This is according to a party spokesperson.

The party in question, the Patriotic Front suspended President Guy Scott for “not respecting the constitution”, reported the BBC.

“He has been hiring and firing people for no apparent reason and without consulting the central committee,” said Malozo Sichone.

Scott will remain a member of the party until the country’s elections in January next year.

He became Zambia’s first white president last month following the death of incumbent Michael Sata who’d ruled the southern African country from 2011.
