Morocco to host CHAN 2018 instead of Kenya

The Confederation of African Football emergency committee met in Lagos and unanimously decided that Morocco will host the fifth edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) instead of Kenya. Kenya’s rights to host the tourney were stripped after their preparations were deemed unsuitable for the biennial 16-team tournament.


Equatorial Guinea: Education ministry bans pregnant school girls from continuing with studies

Equatorial Guinea is receiving a lot of flak on social media for its controversial rule banning pregnant school girls from continuing with their studies. The school girls are expected to take pregnancy tests before enrolment, and the Ministry of Education says the special measure was necessitated by the high numbers of teenage pregnancy. The ministry says the new rule is meant to encourage schoolgirls to protect themselves against unwanted pregnancies but social media users believe the rule is discriminatory and should be removed.
