Africans across the continent and the Diaspora are celebrating Africa Day. As we celebrate this important day we emphasise the need to solve the growing burden of forcibly displaced, and African leaders and pan African institutions need to find lasting solutions to forced displacement.

Today Africans are celebrating Africa Day one of the most important days on the continent’s public holiday or commemorative days.
As we celebrate this important day we emphasise the need to solve the growing burden of forcibly displaced, and African leaders and pan African institutions need to find lasting solutions to forced displacement across the continent.
Reports suggest that more than a third of the 68 million forcibly displaced people in the world are in Africa. Conflicts, human rights violations, natural disasters, serious public health problems, humanitarian crisis, etc. are potential causes of forced displacement of African people.
The AU proclaimed the year 2019; “Year of Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons: Towards Sustainable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa”.
As we commemorate Africa Day across the continent, and in the global Diaspora, we must remember those millions displaced people who are victims of conflict and natural disasters, and in cases where we can make a difference, particularly in humanitarian crises, we should step up to the plate to provide assistance to the displaced and vulnerable.
