The family of South African anti-apartheid activist, Steve Biko are taking legal action in a bid to stop the auction of his post-mortem report.

The auction was to take place in Johannesburg along with that of the post-mortem report of another anti-apartheid activist, Ahmed Timol.

On Tuesday evening, the auction house’s website had an image of Timol’s post-mortem report but there was none of Steve Biko’s. Below the image of Timol’s report however, was the word “withdrawn”.

According to Steve Biko’s family, the report is part of national history and should not be sold for private gains.
